This species was formerly found on St Helena. It is now Extinct, presumably as a result of island deforestation in the 18th century.

Habitat:

It was presumably a small forest cuckoo, which would account for its scarcity in the fossil record.

Causes:

Its extinction is likely to have occurred as a result of the deforestation of the island.

Distribution:

Nannococcyx psix was described from St Helena (to UK) from a single fragment of a humerus. It is likely to have become extinct in the 18th century (Olson 1975b).
