This species is known from Tanna, Vanuatu, but the only record dates from 1774 and it is now Extinct. Predation by introduced rats is likely to have been the main cause.

Habitat:

Nothing is known, although it may have inhabited the island's forests.

Causes:

This species was likely hunted. Predation by introduced rats was probably the main cause of its extinction (Hume 2017).

Distribution:

This species is known only from J. R. Forster's 1774 painting, from Tanna Island, Vanuatu, in the Natural History Museum at Tring (Knox and Walters 1994).
